John James Farrell was born on November 2, 1861, to Peter Farrell and Mary McGlensy, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was baptized on November 10, 1861, in the Church of St. John the Evangelist. He received his early education in the public schools, and in 1890, entered the Order as a novice at Villanova, Pa. He professed simple vows on May 4, 1891, and solemn vows on May 4, 1894. John was ordained to the priesthood on June 8, 1895, by Most Reverend Patrick J. Ryan, Archbishop of Philadelphia.

Henry Louis Daly, was born on April 12, 1908, to Philip Daly and Mary McLoughlin, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania., and was baptized on May 3, 1908, in the Church of Saint Gabriel. He graduated from Saint Thomas Parish School, Rosemont, Pa., and on September 10, 1922, was admitted as a postulant to Augustinian Academy, Staten Island, New York. He became a novice on August 15, 1926, professed first vows on August 16, 1927, and solemn vows three years later.

Dominic James Berra, son of John Berra and Felicia Brier, was born in Trevorton, Pennsylvania, on September 21, 1914. He was ordained on May 18, 1944 in Washington, D.C. He was awarded an MA degree from the Catholic University of America, as well as a degree in theology from Augustinian College. In the early years of his ministry, he served in Cuba teaching at the University of Santo Tomas, where he also earned a PhD in theology in 1948.

Dominic Joseph Caniglia was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on December 12, 1922, the son of Ettore Caniglia and Louise Cinalli, and was baptized at Saint Rita Church there on March 11, 1923. He attended Saint Rita Parochial School until 1936, and then spent one year at Southeast Catholic High School, also in Philadelphia, before entering Augustinian Academy, Staten Island, New York, as a postulant in September 1937. He received his high school diploma in 1940 and was received as a novice on September 9, of the same year. He professed simple vows on September 10, 1941, and then pursued his college course at Villanova College, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy in 1945.

John Dougherty was born on June 8, 1848 to John Dougherty and Sarah McHugh, in Lagnahoory, parish of Kilmacrenan, County Donegal, Ireland.
On July 27, 1900, he was vested at Villanova, Pa., taking the name Brother Augustine. He professed simple vows on August 2, 1906, and solemn vows on August 10, 1909.

Francis Paul Crawford was born on May 10, 1917, in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, to Robert Crawford and Mary Strantzk. He was baptized there on May 20, 1917, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. He received his elementary and high school education at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School. He entered Augustinian Academy, Staten Island, New York in 1936, and was received into Our Mother of Good Counsel Novitiate on September 9, 1937. Francis professed simple vows on September 10, 1938, and solemn vows on September 10, 1941.

Henry James Eagan, son of Daniel Eagan and Mary Power, was born on February 1, 1914, and was baptized on February 8, 1914 in St. Agatha’s Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His early education began at St. Leonard Academy and at St. Joseph Preparatory School in Philadelphia. He graduated from West Catholic High School in 1934, and entered the novitiate on September 16th of the same year. Henry professed simple vows on November 17, 1935, and made solemn profession on November 17, 1938.

John Vincent Casey was born on August 4, 1912, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the son of John M. Casey and Mary Pomeroy, one of four brothers and three sisters. He was baptized on August 8, 1912 at Saint Mary’s Church, Lawrence, and attended that parish elementary school, graduating in 1926. He received his high school education as a postulant at Augustinian Academy, Staten Island, New York. He was received into the novitiate September 12, 1931, and after a year at Good Counsel Novitiate, New Hamburg, N.Y., he professed simple vows on September 13, 1932.
